Source: psdtuts.com Mr. George Akhras has more than 15 years of experience in ICT planning, network and system design and administration, e-learning software development, digitization of curriculum and education materials, and streamlining of academic business processes. Prior to joining AMSI, Mr. Akhras served as head of the Computer Science Department and teacher for almost 10 years. During this time, he supervised and worked on several innovative projects that integrated the latest information and communication technologies into the standard school environment. In 2001, Mr. Akhras developed and supervised the induction of a comprehensive document management system into the school’s operations which helped achieve on-demand in-house printing of books and other education materials to eliminate stockpiling and reduce printing costs. In 2003, he worked on the award-winning Notebooks for Books (N4B) project which transformed traditional classrooms into virtual, e-learning environments. Mr. Akhras has strong expertise in the development of self-paced learning programs that serve to remedy the imbalance of student knowledge attainment in computer subjects by creating online lesson modules that students can cover at their own pace. His work included developing, digitizing, and integrating an entire computer science curriculum from K-12. Mr. Akhras also worked on developing an interactive, online student magazine that relieves the school of countless editing hours and high printing costs every year, and spurs student creativity and literary achievement. Mr. Akhras received his B.A. in Computer Science from the Lebanese American University in Beirut.He is also a member of the American University of Dubai’s IT Advisory Board and an active member of IEEE.
